All tuckered out after the festivities

Trying to hunt for eggs.   It wasn't very successful.  Carson got distracted by this hose and that was it.  He didn't want to leave this spot the entire time.  So we got the eggs for him and his cousin Alana helped too.

Carson's new haircut. I cut his hair myself so there are some spots that are missing some more hair than others, but overall it's cute (especially when styled!) I had an emotional few days after his hair cut. He's not my little baby anymore! He is constantly asserting his independence. It shocks us! I'm sure he will soon be saying "I do it myself."

So we had to take a trip to Sacred Heart's ER last night. Carson has had a cold for a week and a half and then a high fever for the last 4 days. He had already been to see his regular doctor twice and they kept assuming ear infection but could never find one. Carson's doctor called yesterday afternoon to check up on him and told us that if his fever continued through the night to bring him in first thing in the morning. Well he had had a 102 fever all day yesterday and when we attempted to get him to bed he fought sleep (nothing unusual) and we finally got him to sleep and not 20 mins later, he woke up screaming and thrashing around and no amount of comfort helped. He fell back asleep and we thought that was really strange, but then it kept happening over again about every 5 to 20 mins. So we took him in and of course by the time we got there he was peacefully asleep and his fever was gone. After listening to Carson's symptoms, the ER doc was convinced he had an ear infection and then he asked who we saw and I said our regular doctor was busy that day so we saw his Nurse Practitioner. His response was "oh, well that's why then." Talk about ego! I almost laughed because I felt like, is this guy for real? Anyway, so he checked Carson's ears and lo and behold they are just fine. But then he checked his nasal passages and they were swollen so it's most likely a sinus infection. We're glad to know what it is. It was stressful watching Carson have such high fevers for so many days without knowing what was going on. Especially when he had 104.2 temp all night long, which Motrin only lowered to about 102 by morning. Today is the first day he has been acting like himself. Before, he was just a puddle of misery. Hopefully things continue to get better and he doesn't regress. Right now we just have a lot of sleep to catch up on! It's pretty much impossible to get sleep with a sick baby who when healthy doesn't sleep anyway. Our measly amount of sleep was substantially reduced which is probably why we are now fighting off colds as well!

Carson enjoying his dinner. I gave him some avocado cut up and that was a big mistake! He smashed it everywhere and then when we gave him his actual dinner, it stuck to the avocado. He had a good time making a mess though and he needed a bath that night anyway.

The other night Carson passed out on the living room floor after literally gorging himself on dinner (he ate more than we did) and then crackers and numerous other snacks (as you can see the crumbs around him). He never puts himself to sleep. Josh and I were watching a movie and he kept cuddling with me then asked to be put down so I put him down and then next thing we knew, he was asleep on the floor!

Mr. Fix it. It truly amazes me how mechanically inclined Carson is. He gets his tools out and will mess with the molding, as if he's nailing it in like Daddy, or like in this picture he'll find some sort of hardware that he can pretend he's screwing in with his drill.

He had no idea he had a fishy cracker on his face.

Finally found it, then wanted to share.

He climbed all the way onto cousin Shelby and then just sat him. He later snuggled in. It was pretty cute.

Sporting his baby fluff that his Auntie Mel got him (She rocks!)

Rough housing with Cousin Lexi.

This is one of his favorite things to do...sitting in things or on small objects. He'll grab pillows from the couch, put them on the floor and then attempt to sit on them. Or he loves to sit on small boxes or anything his size.

Awesome Fauxhawk! Daddy was having fun after Carson's bath.

Enjoying a bedtime snack.

He couldn't eat without his safety goggles.

New Year's Eve was really great this year. Carson and I spent the night out at my Mom's house along with my sisters Sara & Melissa and their kiddos. It was wonderful having family time with the girls. Carson stayed up until almost midnight! His poor little stomach wouldn't give him a break and there was just too much going on. Of course he couldn't miss anything.

Then we all woke up and got ready for the day and headed out to Clinderdaggers to celebrate my Mom's b-day. That was fun. Great spot for a girls lunch. Then the fun didn't end there! We went out to a movie.

It was an awesome time with the girls!

The cutest thing happened as well. I took Carson to lunch with us and then dropped him off with Josh before our movie. When I got home later Carson was soooo excited to see me. The moment he saw me, he immediately started squealing and frantically signing for me to pick him up, which of course I did and then he kept giving me hugs. Real hugs. He was squeezing with all his might. He'd look at me and then give me a big hug again while making adorable baby noises. Oh man, it melted my heart. I started squealing too.

I couldn't have had a better day.
